Our Training Approach
The modules described below are all intended as “live” workshops, led by a facilitator who is experienced in dealing with the target population. The workshops will be based around a planned “dialogue” which uses the participants’ own experiences as the basis for learning, but may be adapted holistically based upon the groups’ needs. The sessions will include short practice exercises in pairs and trios. There may be some limited, brief video clips for examples or discussion. These workshops are “straight-to-the-point sessions.”
One assumption behind this approach is that the participants may initially resist the sessions. They may equate this kind of classroom training as “going back to school.” We will consciously work to dispel that comparison from the first meeting. In addition, the duration of these sessions will be designed for 90 minutes or two hours at most.
Participants will be strongly encouraged to fully commit to the short sessions. The idea for participants is to:
• Get into the flow of the session quickly
• Participate as completely as you can
• Be honest in your questions and statements
The “contract” is basically this – participants give their full attention and participation for 90 minutes, then they can return to work, school, or home on time.
