This course is designed to introduce all
categories of disability as defined by IDEA 2004.
Each category of disability will be given specific
attention, and defined and examined through
history, current practices, and challenges, as
well as future endeavors. Characteristics,
identification, assessment, prevalence, causes,
preventions, educational (instructional)
approaches for each disability will serve as the
foundation for each category. All age groups from
infants to adults with disabilities will be
reviewed, instructional strategies will be modeled
and studies with hands on application for
implementation. Deliver and application approach
will include but not limited to lecture, case
study discussions, text analysis, guest speakers,
research papers written in APA format and field
experience. 3 credits. |
